Kfarhelda Waterfall

A hidden gem

In April 2023, we set out on our first visit to Kfarhelda with an initial plan to hike 4 kilometers from Mejdel to Kfarhelda. However, a flood in the Walnut River, compelled us to alter our route and drive directly to Kfarhelda (Kfarhilda) before commencing our hike down to the valley.

Kfarhelda, nestled within the scenic Bsetines al-Issi valley, just 72 kilometers from Beirut, is a truly charming village, also known as Kfar Helda. Its tranquil ambiance is complemented by a rich historical heritage, with remnants of ancient monasteries and churches adorning its landscape. Notably, Kfarhelda is celebrated for its breathtaking valley, where the pure waters of spring-fed waterfalls gracefully cascade along the banks of the Walnut River.

Our journey was a leisurely three-hour round trip, offering ample opportunities to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the surroundings. Along the way, we paused for moments of rest, allowing us to capture the awe-inspiring scenery.

The trail presented a moderate challenge, neither too easy nor too difficult, and the ultimate reward lay in reaching the magnificent waterfall. This waterfall possesses a truly magical quality, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an unforgettable experience.

For those planning a visit, early spring is the ideal time to witness the waterfall at its most powerful. As the midday sun's rays grace the water, a mesmerizing rainbow emerges, painting a scene of unparalleled beauty that is truly worth witnessing.
