Baadaran Airstrip

The airstrip has been around for decades, and it’s seen a lot of take-offs and landings over the years, so it’s got some real history behind it. If you’re a pilot, it’s the perfect scenic spot to touch down. But even if you’re not, it’s still an amazing place to visit—imagine witnessing Lebanon’s natural beauty from the sky!

And while you’re in Baadaran, you’ve got to check out the abandoned castle nearby, known as Al Joumblatt Serail. It’s got quite the backstory too—it was built on the ruins of a Roman citadel from the 6th century. Later, in 1720, Sheikh Ali Joumblatt, the founder of the Joumblatt family in Mount Lebanon, restored and expanded it.

The castle’s location on top of a hill made it a refuge for rebels and fighters all the way back to the Roman era. Now, it’s mostly in ruins, with nature slowly taking over. It definitely needs some restoration, but standing there, you can really feel the history. And the village of Baadaran itself? Beautiful, charming, and absolutely worth the visit.
